Layout
Keyboard Layout
The default QWERTY mapping centers the tonic on E = Sa and stretches below and above it for a practical melodic range.
Lower register
S, A, `, 1, Q, 2, W cover the notes from low Pa through low Ni.
Middle register
E anchors Sa, then 4, R, 5, T, Y and 7, U, 8, I, 9, O continue upward.
Upper register
P plays upper Sa, while -, [, =, ], \, ', ; continue the upper row.
Visual labels
Each key shows note name, swara label, and the matching keyboard character.
- Keep your right hand near E to orient around the tonic before moving through the chromatic neighbors.
- Treat the help overlay as a live fingering map until the central rows become muscle memory.
- If you teach beginners, start with Sa Re Ga Ma around the center before using the full range.
- Mouse and touch input follow the same note map, which helps when demonstrating on mobile.
